The 2026–27 awards season runs from the Emmys in September 2026 through the Oscars in March 2027, with the Golden Globes and Grammys in between. The table below lists every major ceremony’s date and network, and links to the full category breakdown for each, updated as nominations are announced.

Every show, dated
Four ceremonies, six months, one championship season. Think of it as awards season’s shared universe: each show is a standalone film, but the post-credits scene always teases the next one.

When do nominations drop?
Nomination announcements are awards season’s trailer drops: the moment the speculation ends and the pool prep begins. Exact dates are announced each year, so treat these as typical windows, not gospel:
Emmys: July (typical)
Nominations for the September ceremony traditionally arrive in mid-July. The 2026 slate is already out.
Grammys: November (typical)
The recording field usually announces in early-to-mid November, a solid two months before showtime.
Golden Globes: December (typical)
Film and TV nominations historically drop in early December, about a month before the telecast.
Oscars: January (typical)
Film nominations usually land in mid-to-late January, giving pools roughly six weeks to obsess.

How to prep your pool for each show
Emmys (September). Nominees are already public, so there’s no excuse: set up your pool now, send the code to the group chat, and let everyone agonize for weeks. Television is the home turf here: your friend who recaps prestige dramas like sports radio finally gets their championship game.
Golden Globes (January). The season’s chaotic cold open: film and TV in one room, champagne on the tables, results that sometimes predict the rest of the season and sometimes predict absolutely nothing. Set up a casual pool with flat scoring; treat it as spring training for the March main event.
Grammys (February). The deepest ballot of the season and the hardest to research. Even the terminally online get humbled here: the fields are enormous and genre categories reward actual listening. Great pool for music-heavy friend groups; everyone else should embrace picking on pure vibes, which is its own strategy.
Oscars (March). The season finale. Everyone from your cousin to your dentist fills out a ballot, so this is the pool worth doing properly: weighted scoring, a runtime tiebreaker, and ballots sealed before the red carpet ends. May the odds be ever in your favor. And they won’t be, because someone always sweeps the shorts categories.
