Kathy Bates has two Primetime Emmy wins: a guest-comedy award for Two and a Half Men in 2012 and a supporting award for American Horror Story: Coven in 2014.
The Television Academy lists fifteen nominations in her record. They include Harry's Law, Annie, Warm Springs and Matlock, along with guest work and directing.
The award our earlier article missed
Our old headline counted one Emmy win. It came from a database that covered some acting categories but omitted guest performances. That left out the Two and a Half Men award, even though it fell inside the article's stated date range.
We then used the incomplete count to make a point about Bates being overdue. That argument should not have been published. This correction replaces it, along with the conflicting Oscar totals elsewhere in the original article.
For a current Emmy ballot, use the nominees in the category you are playing. Bates' awards history is useful background; a wins-to-nominations ratio would not give you the probability of a new performance winning.
